Belinda Bauer lives in her “ivory tower” in the quaint community of Poetry, Texas. She looks around seeing a town filled with farmers and railroad men all in need of wives, so she sets herself up as a marriage broker. She decides to send little poems to prospective brides all over the country to attract them to town. For a while, her plan seems to work and women begin to arrive in town. However, there is one big problem…Belinda doesn’t have a clue about being a marriage broker so many of the wives marry the wrong man. One particular man, Georg Kaufman, the local barber, gets very frustrated with her attempts. But, if you read the story you may find a poetic ending in store for Georg – and for Belinda herself.
